Day 1 of "The Trek"

I know that you all have been eagerly awaiting my first update from the annual trek to Gatlinburg. We spent last night in Silas, AL at Mom & Dad's house and left at 6:00 (yes, IN THE MORNING) today to drive to Pisgah, AL. We stopped at Jeff's parents' house in Pisgah, visited for about 30 minutes and then LEFT ASHER THERE. They are excited about having him for the week, but leaving him was hard. Of course, he was perfectly content. I think he knows a couple of suckers when he sees 'em!

We finally made it to Gatlinburg after stopping at every Walmart along the way. Evidently my Mom has a theory about Walmart bathrooms being better than gas station bathrooms. Rest area bathrooms outrank them both, but those are few and far between. I wanted to buy a camera at the Walmarts, but I have to wait until my wallet arrives. Yes, I had to get Jeff to FedEx it to me since I left it at home. Lovely.

I do have one confession to make: I have completely fallen off the wagon. At one point I gave up reading forensic FBI-type thrillers. Well, I'm back at it. I'm a relapsing thriller novel junkie. Here's my reading list for the trip so far. Please leave me a comment if you have any suggestions for authors or books I might like, you bunch of codependent enablers. (To give you an idea - Patricia Cornwell is my favorite). So here's what I have:

1. Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child (I've read most of his stuff. Love it!)
2. The Broken Window by Jeffery Deaver
3. Dead Before Dark by Wendi Corsi Staub
4. The Orpheus Deception by David Stone

Yes, I brought Streams in the Desert and Oswald with me. And my Bible. I'm not in my handbasket yet... but the week is still young!
