Heart Cathapalooza

Asher was all smiles at the Hampton Inn Monday night. Well, he was all smiles until it was time to go to sleep. He was still in "play-mode."

We had to get up EARLY to get there on time. He's even happy in the wee hours! (Notice there are no pictures of me or Jeff...)

Grandma and Grandpa met us at Ochsner's. Of course, they had already had breakfast in the cafeteria by the time we got there.

I was a little concerned when I saw the prison crib. Asher was more interested in all of the stuff hanging from the wall.

"I've got the Folsom Prison blues..."

Dr. Lucas is such a nice guy. (Thanks for insisting that I request him, Lydia!)

Here's what Asher looks like when he is drunk on Versed.

And here is our little (okay, huge) papoose after the heart cath was OVER! First the prison crib and now a straight jacket for the legs?! At least they did give him a duck Beanie Baby named "Quackers."

The little donut pillow was much more fun than it was comfortable.

If you look past the prison crib and squint your eyes, you can see the twinkly lights in the ceiling. Not institutional. Not scary.

Asher was no worse for the wear after it was all over. What a trooper.

Well, Asher is asleep, and I am very tired. Drained is more accurate. I'll probably create some rambling post dealing with the fact that we have to go back Sunday night for open heart surgery on Monday. Yeah. I had no idea that this scary experience was actually an easy experience which was to be followed a truly scary experience. This was sort of the "trailer" for the feature presentation to come. Oh well. I'll worry about that tomorrow.

Oh Mandy, for once I am at a loss for words. Can you believe that?? Seeing Asher sitting in that metal bed, and with my favorite Dr. in the entire world, brings back so many memories. The care that we continue to recieve from Dr. Lucas and his staff has always been outstanding. They care for your child as if it were their own. Other hospitals might have caring physicians and staff, but they don't have a Victor Lucas. I'm praying for you all.
