Heart Surgery Eve

Since tomorrow is "Heart Surgery Day," I am calling today "Heart Surgery Eve." I wanted to share a few pictures before I turn in for the night. We have to check in at 5:00 a.m., which means I will be getting up at about 4:00 a.m. Well, I will set my alarm for 4:00 a.m. fully realizing that I will probably get up sometime soon after that.

Here's Asher napping so peacefully before the drive to New Orleans.

We are staying at the Brent House Hotel tonight. It is connected to Ochsner's, so we should be able to find the surgery center tomorrow. Asher was in such a good mood all the way to N.O. and after we checked in. The girls had a great time playing with him.

Here's Jeff is reading a couple of take-out menus. Once we got out of the car, we didn't want to get back in. We settled on pizza. We really live on the edge, don't we?

Asher is practicing for the board room. He already has an air of authority about him doesn't he?

Of course, you lose all authority when the table is so tall that it makes you look like a midget. I am sitting in the chair, and I can barely see over the table. Oompa Loompas furnished this place.

He had a blast playing on the floor. Yes, we put a blanket down to keep him from touching the icky hotel carpet. Of course, he promptly army man crawled off of the blanket. So much for avoiding the hotel germs. Maybe since it is attached to a hospital, it is unusually clean.. (What it probably means is that the germs we pick up will be staph.)

Asher gets to sleep in a pack-n-play, which the Brent House provided. He doesn't mind. It beats that metal prison crib. Here he is playing with a plastic cup since his mother neglected to pack any toys.

The girls explored the lobby of the hotel and took lots of cute pictures. The atrium provided many many many backdrops for self-portraits.

Asher and Belle are asleep, and Hannah just got out of the shower. I guess I will end this and get ready for bed. I can't help thinking about this being the last day of our lives "before Asher's surgery." At least it has been a good day. :)

Goodnight.
